HC Deb 01 November 1990 vol 178 cc709-10W
Mr. Robert Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement about the proposal for an extension of the M11 through Lincolnshire to Yorkshire with particular regard to the involvement of the private sector.

Mr. Chope

The extension of the Mil is a proposal by a group of local authorities in eastern England. I understand they have appointed consultants to study their proposals. The local authorities are sharing the cost of the study, with contributions from the private sector and grant from the EC. The study is due to report early in 1991.

Mr. Chope

Completion of the M66 between Denton and Middleton will remove some 10,000 vehicles per day from the section of the M62 east of junction 18. There will be no significant effect on flows west of this junction.
