§ Mrs. RumboldTo enable Belmarsh prison to open in April 1991, a total of 353 new prison officers will be recruited. In addition, it is proposed to redeploy to Belmarsh 202 officer posts from a number of other prisons in the London area as a consequence of the transfer of work there from those establishments. The reductions in staffing levels at existing establishments will be effected by means of wastage and voluntary transfers to other establishments.
