§ Mr. GristI assume that the hon. Gentleman is referring to the capital grants to voluntary youth services, village halls and community centres programme.
The programme for 1990–91 was notified to the local education authorities on 11 May. The table gives the information requested. All approved projects have been offered grant for the full amount sought.
The time scale for the issue of invitations to local education authorities to submit applications and for the announcement of decisions is designed to meet the needs of applicants at all stages, but it is kept under review.
For each project approved under the programme, the Welsh Office allows a period of three years for the work to be undertaken and grant claimed. The later announcement of approvals for 1990–91 should not therefore jeopardise completion of these projects within this timespan. But if there were problems carry-over arrangements exist and could be used in appropriate cases.
