§ Mr. RedmondTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if, for each event which led to the activation of the Bellwin scheme since 1 April 1989, he will list the qualifying local authorities and the total grant aid paid to each of them.
§ Mr. PortilloActivations of the Bellwin scheme for England since 1 April 1989, with the exception of those for the flooding in the Severn valley and Maidenhead, have applied to all local authorities. Whether an authority qualifies for grant will depend on whether its eligible expenditure exceeds its threshold. Because the earliest deadline for the submission of claim forms is 30 June 1990 there is as yet no information on how many authorities will claim or how much grant will be paid.
