§ Mr. Nicholas BennettTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence what information he has as to accidents caused to aircraft and other military equipment as a result of electromagnetic interference.
§ Mr. NeubertAll accidents involving United Kingdom military aircraft and other United Kingdom military646W equipments are fully investigated. None of the investigations so far has shown that electromagnetic interference was a contributory cause. I understand that other nations have lost aircraft in circumstances where the effect of electromagnetic interference was suspected. However, in the United Kingdom, there are strict rules which govern the minimum distances which must be observed when aircraft and other equipments approach emitters of high frequency radio transmissions.
