Mr. Moynihan

No.

Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will make it his policy in considering any planning appeals to ensure that in the event of development of County Hall the war memorial and inscribed marble detailing the offices of previous leading figures of the London county council and Greater London council will remain in situ;

(2) if he will make it his policy, in considering any planning appeal relevant to County Hall, to ensure that the council chamber is not affected by any development proposals; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moynihan

My right hon. Friend cannot prejudge the outcome of any planning appeal.

Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what amount of money he estimates will be made available to London boroughs from the disposal of County Hall.

Mr. Moynihan

I cannot give an estimate in advance of the completion of a contract.

Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to announce his decision regarding the future of County Hall; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moynihan

My right hon. Friend will announce his decisions on the planning appeals which were the subject of a public inquiry last autumn when he has considered his inspector's report.
