To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many new posts were given to the Devon and Cornwall constabulary in the current year.

My right hon. and learned Friend has approved 17 additional police posts in 1990–91 for the Devon and Cornwall constabulary. This will increase the authorised establishment to 2,863 officers.
