§ Mr. Heathcoat-Amory[holding answer 12 March 1990]: Further to the answer which I gave to the hon. Member on Monday 26 February, I have today written to the hon. Member for Kingston upon Hull, North (Mr. McNamara), to say that transitional arrangements will be made to allow members employed by a local authority-controlled company who are elected members of that authority when paragraph 21 of schedule 11 to the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 comes into force, to remain in office until the end of their elected term.
