§ Mr. AshleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many young people aged over 18 years are on YTS with special training needs endorsements.
§ Mr. NichollsA total of 15,900 young people aged over 18 were on YTS with special training needs endorsements on 31 December 1989.
§ Mr. AshleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment whether the Government intend to introduce an increase in the YT allowance, age related for 18-year-olds and over, in line with the principle set in April 1988 for income support claimants when rate liability was introduced.
§ Mr. NichollsThere will be no change to the value of the higher rate of the youth training allowance. The present level of this allowance represents a clear lead over the corresponding level of the income support for 18-yearolds, and will continue to do so when the income support rates are increased in April.
