HL Deb 08 March 1990 vol 516 c1296WA
Lord Hatch of Lusby

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What financial commitment they made to the conference in Washington of the Inter-Government Panel on Climate Change to assist developing countries to curb the production of greenhouse gases.

Lord Hesketh

The Government committed an additional £45,000 to the IPCC Trust Fund which supports the attendance of representatives of developing countries at meetings of the IPCC. Through the Overseas Development Administration, the Government supports a substantial programme of projects in co-operation with developing countries to conserve the tropical forests and reduce deforestation, which is a major contributor to the greenhouse effect.
