Mr. John D. TaylorTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what proposals he has for the distribution in Northern Ireland of the 1 per cent. of additional milk quota which has been allocated to the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyMy right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food announced on 15 February that he had submitted to the European Commission for approval the Government's proposals for the allocation of the extra I per cent. quota in the United Kingdom.
The proposals include allocation
- to new entrants
- to producers whose quota is less than 200,000 litres
- to producers in certain remote areas
- to producers whose Tribunal awards had not been granted in full because insufficient quota was available
Producers in Northern Ireland will benefit under each of the categories with the exception of the remote areas provision which applies only to the Scilly Isles and Scottish islands.
