§ Mr. MacleanI can think of no food that someone or other has not suggested is harmful. Nevertheless, my Department has not actually been advised that any type of foods is intrinsically a danger to health providing it has been properly handled and prepared. From time to time it is necessary for central Government or local government to issue warnings in relation to particular brands or batches of foodstuffs, and to take associated action. The chief medical officer has also given advice about the precautions to be taken when preparing and eating certain foods, and about the consumption of certain foods by particular vulnerable groups.
