§ Mr. ChopeThere is an allowance in the other services block standard spending assessment fot the costs related to tourism, based on the annual average number of nights that visitors stayed in a given local authority's area.
§ Mr. FearnTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will consider a specific tourism grant for major holiday resorts to cover the additional costs associated with a large increase in population for parts of the year.
§ Mr. ChopeThere is no need to establish a specific grant for this purpose. The costs which fall to local authorities as a result of seasonal influxes of tourists are already taken into account in the annual revenue support grant settlement.
