To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how much was invested in improving the energy efficiency of his Department in the latest available year.

[holding answer 25 June 1990]: Information is not available separately for the Departments of Health and Social Security. In the financial year 1989–90, the Departments combined invested £133,000 in energy efficiency measures. Further investment was made by the Property Services Agency, but the amount cannot be identified separately from the agency's overall expenditure on energy efficiency.
