§ Mr. Tony BanksTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many inspectors of the animals (scientific procedures) inspectorate are currently in post; how many inspections they carried out in the past 12 months; and how many laboratories are registered for animal experimentation by his Department.
§ Mr. Peter LloydThis information is published annually in the "Statistics of Scientific Procedures on Living Animals" (1988, Cm 743). Information for 1989 will be published in July. A total of 375 places are designated as scientific procedure establishments under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
