§ Ms. ArmstrongTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) what plans he has for the future of community work training;
(2) what representations he has received about the future of community work training; and if he will place them in the Library.
§ Mr. Alan HowarthOn 5 April my right hon. Friend announced that from 1 April 1991, he would channel funding to the national level youth service bodies through a single national youth agency. The agency will be based on the existing youth service bodies, in particular the National Youth Bureau (NYB) and the Council for the Education and Training of Youth and Community Workers (CETYCW). One of the functions of the agency will be the development, endorsement, accreditation and, in some circumstances, the provision of youth and community worker training and I shall look to the agency to build upon the work currently undertaken by CETYCW.
My right hon. Friend has received a number of general representations about the establishment of the agency.
