§ 36. Mr. Ian Taylor
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what recent representations he has received on current levels of executive pay.
§ Mr. Ryder
My right hon. Friend has recently received some letters from members of the public on the pay of company directors and senior executives. Levels of pay are a matter for the parties concerned as only they can know what is right for their particular circumstances. However, the Government have said repeatedly that we are opposed to excessive pay increases since they threaten jobs.
