§ Mr. StrangTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make it his policy to commission a study along the lines of that undertaken by the United States Department of Energy and Argonne National Laboratories, published by the United States national technical information service, on the potential for reducing atmospheric pollution from transport vehicles through the introduction of alternative transport fuels.
§ Mr. AtkinsThe options, including the potential for using alternative fuels, to further reduce pollution from motor vehicles are currently being reviewed. This may lead to the commissioning of more detailed assessments to complement the results of existing national and international research.
