§ Mr. Waldegrave[holding answer 17 May 1990]: As I stated in my answer to the hon. Member on 5 April, confiscated endangered species are disposed of by the Hong Kong authorities by one of the following methods: live animals are released to the wild; specimens are sent to zoos, educational and scientific institutions or other CITES authorities; and perishable items are incinerated.
