HC Deb 05 June 1990 vol 173 c478W
Ms. Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whom he has consulted and what was discussed in forming the Government's response to the Carver report.

Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

The Department has given careful consideration to all aspects of the recent report of the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee on the reorganisation of the Nature Conservancy Council. The continuing discussions between the Government, the existing agencies and the chairman designate of the successor bodies have taken full account of the recommendations in the report. The Government's response to the report was published on 17 May and I refer the hon. Member to the reply which my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Romsey and Waterside. (Mr. Colvin) on Thursday 17 May at column512.
