To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he is satisfied that sufficient application forms for the social fund are available at his Department's offices throughout the Yorkshire region; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Scott

We are satisfied that sufficient application forms for assistance from the social fund are available at local Department of Social Security offices in the Yorkshire region.

The social fund application form used for both community care grants and budgeting loans is currently undergoing revision with the aim of making it easier for applicants to complete. I understand that some offices in the Yorkshire area have recently experienced temporary difficulty in maintaining stocks of the existing form. Contingency plans have been put into place, and all offices should now have sufficient stocks to meet demand.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will publish the monthly recommended proposed spending levels for social fund expenditure for the current year.

The figures set out in the table show the national anticipated expenditure profile for 1990–91.
