To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many press officers are employed by his Department.

There are a total of 221 posts on the strength of the defence public relations staffs. These include staff in the single service command headquarters and in central staffs in the MOD. Latest available figures show there to be 207 staff in post and 14 vacancies. These figures include administrative support staff.
