HC Deb 26 July 1990 vol 177 c446W
Dr. Thomas

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment whether his Department has made any assessment of the health and safety implications involved in the process of the manufacture of softwood chipboard; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Forth

The Health and Safety Executive has not conducted any specific comprehensive assessment of health and safety aspects of softwood chipboard manufacture. However, standards applicable to chipboard manufacturing processes are contained in existing safety legislation enforced by HSE. It has no evidence to suggest that standards involving this manufacturing process are unsatisfactory.
