Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list those health authorities which have partnership arrangements with the private sector for the care of the elderly and give in each case the company concerned.

Mr. Dorrell

This information is not collected centrally. However, we welcome cost-effective collaboration between the national health service and the independent sector to make services available to all patients including elderly people and expect health authorities to consider appropriate opportunities as part of their regular reviews of performance.

Ms. Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what statistics he requires district and regional health authorities to collect on home and water safety accidents.

Mr. Dorrell

The Department of Health does not require health authorities to collect specific statistics in these areas.
