To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the(a) total budget and (b) architectural budget for the east London river crossing.

Mr. Atkins

[holding answer 11 July 1990]: The latest estimate of the total cost of the scheme, updated to mid-1989 prices, is £300 million. That estimate includes the services of architectural and landscape consultants. Estimates for the architectural elements of the scheme are not identified separately.
