To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many civil servants in his Department of the rank of principal or equivalent and above are graduates of Oxford and Cambridge; and how many are graduates of other universities.

Of the 4,073 civil servants holding the rank of principal—(grade 7) and above, 509 are graduates of Oxford or Cambridge and 2,348 are graduates of other universities.
