The information sought is available only since the introduction of the Transfrontier Shipment of Hazardous Waste Regulations 1988.
Records of shipments under the regulations show that 479 tonnes of polychlorinate bi-phenyl contaminated materials were imported via Newport for disposal in the year 1 April 1989 to 31 March 1990.
