§ Mr. Ron DaviesTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps have been taken by his Department to assist Perez de Cuellar in his efforts to implement the last general assembly resolution regarding the organisation of a fair and genuine democratic referendum for the self-determination of the Saharawi people without any military or administrative constraints.
§ Mr. WaldegraveThere have been welcome developments since the last UN general assembly resolution. The Secretary-General is expected soon to make detailed proposals for the establishment of a UN mission for the referendum in the western Sahara (MINURSO). Together with the other members of the Security Council we support these efforts and stand ready to consider requests for assistance.
