HC Deb 02 July 1990 vol 175 cc399-400W
Sir David Price

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport in light of the recent decision by the House of Lords in the case of Jamesv. Eastleigh borough council, what advice he is now offering to transport undertakings, in respect of concessionary fares for elderly people.

Mr. Freeman

This decision has no relevance for local authority concessionary fares schemes for people of pensionable age, which are based on statutory provision unaffected by the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.
