Gross expenditure on the Health Service in Scotland has risen by an estimated 31 per cent. in real terms between 1979–80 and 1989–90.

Gross expenditure on the Health Service in Scotland was £1,064 million in 1979–80, and is planned to rise to £3,041 million in 1990–91. This represents an increase of about 35 per cent. in real terms.
