§ Mr. CorbynTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the approximate cost of holiday visit passages paid in respect of(a) children of his Department's personnel being educated in the United Kingdom and in receipt of education allowances and (b) members of the Diplomatic Service communications division being educated in the United Kingdom and in receipt of education allowances, and of any further travelling expenses paid for the latest available year.
§ Mr. Sainsbury[holding answer 19 January 1990]: The total cost, with travelling expenses, of holiday passages for the children of staff serving overseas on Diplomatic Service terms, including those of the communications division (for whom separate statistics are not kept) was £1.05 million in 1988–89.
