To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give the figures, on a force by force basis, of police officers who suffered violent assaults over the recent Christmas and new year period in Wales.

I understand from the chief constables concerned that, during the period from 22 December 1989 up to and including 1 January 1990, the numbers of police officers in Wales who were physically attacked were as follows:
