To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what plans he has for the reform of the system of national insurance contributions; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Gillian Shephard

A reform of the system of national insurance contributions for employees was introduced last October. We have no current plans for further major reforms. Some minor changes are proposed in the Social Security Bill.
