What are the latest available figures for the number and percentage of students in full-time further education at universities, polytechnics and colleges of higher education respectively, in England and Wales, who live in halls of residence belonging to the universities, polytechnics or colleges of higher education.

The 1988–89 survey of student income and expenditure conducted by Research Services Limited found that 36 per cent, of younger full-time and sandwich students in Great Britain were living in halls of residence. This figure comprises 47 per cent, of university students, 15 per cent, of polytechnic students and 29 per cent, of students at other maintained establishments. During the academic year 1988–89 there were 270,000 full-time and sandwich higher education students at universities in Great Britain and 246,000 at other maintained establishments.
