HC Deb 21 February 1990 vol 167 c808W
Sir Geoffrey Finsberg

To ask the Lord President of the Council what are the regulations governing the use of radio pagers and other bleeping machines within the precincts; and what steps he is taking to prevent their use in areas used by other hon. Members.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

[holding answer 20 February 1990]: The use of radio pagers by right hon. and hon. Members is a personal matter and no regulations exist governing their use within the precincts of the House. I am aware that such devices can cause annoyance and I have asked the Serjeant at Arms to remind Members that pagers should be switched off while they are present in the Chamber or in Committees of the House.
