§ Mr. HefferTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what sites for new prisons he has considered and rejected in the north-west over the last two years.
§ Mr. MellorDuring this period the Home Office has considered some 40 possible sites. Only one of these, at Fazakerley, Liverpool, is being actively pursued at present. Discussions on a number of the sites were on a confidential basis, because of commercial considerations, and it would not be right to list all of the sites involved.
