§ 51. Sir David SteelTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how much debt owed by developing countries Her Majesty's Government propose to write off in this coming year.
§ Mrs. ChalkerWe have already cancelled the old aid debt of 23 countries, and rescheduled on concessional terms other official debt of 12 countries. The 1988 Toronto summit agreed to provide such debt relief to the poorest countries pursuing economic reforms, and we expect more to benefit in 1990.
