Member for Western Isles on 31 January and 11 December last year noted, the draft chemical weapons convention under negotiation in Geneva would prohibit the production of chemical weapons immediately upon the convention's entry into force. This provision has been agreed by all states participating in the negotiations, including the United Kingdom.
