§ Mr. WallerTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether the consultants appointed to advise his Department on a preferred route for the proposed link between the M1 and M62 motorways in West Yorkshire will include within their remit any consideration of a possible upgrading of the route to motorway standard.
§ Mr. AtkinsEarly indications are that an all-purpose dual two-lane road would be the appropriate standard for this proposed new link. The consultants will, however, be carrying out a further assessment of scheme standards, including the possibility of a motorway, as route options are developed.
