§ Mr. ChopeExports of the following materials used in construction currently exceed imports in value terms:
- iron and steel tubes, pipes, angles and sections;
- ceramic sanitaryware;
- bitumen and bituminous products;
- paint, varnish, etc; and
- wallpaper, etc.
§ Mr. SheermanTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the current value of materials used in the construction industry which are now imported into the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. ChopeThe current value of materials used in construction which were imported into the United Kingdom was approximately £4.6 billion in the 12-month period ending 30 September 1989.
