To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many companies have been returned to the private sector by his Department since 1979.

I refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to the hon. Member for Great Grimsby (Mr. Mitchell) on 9 January at columns 517–18. My Department has primary responsibility for returning seven companies to the private sector.
