§ Mr. NorrisTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessment he has made of the extent of preventable loss arising from theft or misappropriation in his Department.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerIn the year 1988–89 there were two cases of theft or misappropriation in the Welsh Office totalling £1,255. Any loss from theft or misappropriation is examined thoroughly and the lessons learned are used to strengthen systems to deter further fraud.
§ Mr. NorrisTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will list the number of professionally qualified loss-prevention staff employed by his Department and the qualifications held by such staff, excluding qualifications obtained during police or military service.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerIt is the responsibility of all staff to prevent the misappropriation of funds. The following staff in my Department have a major role in aiding loss prevention through audit work.
