To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he will make a decision as to whether a public inquiry will be held to investigate the Marchioness collision.

Mr. McLoughlin

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State will decide whether to order a formal investigation into the Marchioness accident when he has received the report from the chief inspector of marine accidents.
