To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what environmental protection measures his Department takes when constructing new roads.

I refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to the hon. Member for Southport (Mr. Fearn) on 2 February. My right hon. Friend will make a further statement on the environmental treatment of trunk road schemes when the roads report is published shortly.
