HC Deb 07 February 1990 vol 166 c706W
Mr. Terry Davis

To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he is satisfied that there are adequate supplies of the drug spiramycim in syrup for babies suffering from toxoplasmosis.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

[holding answer 6 February 1990]: No product licence has been applied for in respect of spiramycin. Without a licence, the drug could not be imported on a commercial basis, though a doctor might arrange with the manufacturing company to supply it to him on a named-patient basis.
