§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyA key objective of the White Paper "Caring for People" is to ensure that assessment of needs for social care services takes full account of the views of the client and his or her carer. The Department will be issuing guidance to local authorities on assessment and case management. Training in the skills required by case managers will be addressed in improved qualifying training programmes, in new post qualifying training programmes, and in enhanced vocational training.
