To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how the £3.8 million budgeted for technology academies in 1988–89 was spent;

(2) whether any money was budgeted and spent on technology academies prior to 1987–88.

Mr. Lang

No provision for expenditure on technology academies was made in either 1987–88 or 1988–89. There is provision of £4.25 million for this purpose in the Estimates for the current financial year.
