To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what tonnage of sewage sludge has been dumped around the coast of Northern Ireland by the Department of the Environment water service during the past five years.

Complete statistics for 1989 are not yet available but the figures for sewage sludge from water service treatment works which was dumped in the coastal waters of Northern Ireland during the years 1984–85 are as follows:
