To ask the Minister for the Arts whether it is his intention personally to appoint the chair of the Yorkshire and Humberside arts board.

To ask the Minister for the Arts what proposals he has to fund arts in Merseyside; and if he will make a statement.

I am currently considering this matter following lengthy meetings with the chairmen and secretaries—general of the Arts Council, the local authority associations and the regional arts associations. I hope to make a statement before the Christmas recess.
