§ The Attorney-GeneralThe proposed changes in procedure follow recommendations of the civil justice review, which was presented to Parliament in June 1988. The Lord Chancellor announced his acceptance of them in April 1989. Public consultation on the proposed new rent action took place from the end of September to 19 November 1990. The Government are now considering how to proceed in the light of responses. Reforms to the existing procedure in possession cases are planned for July 1992, and the Lord Chancellor will be issuing a consultation paper on the proposed new rules.
